New Jersey Election Commission Reports:

Above are political campaign contributions made by MCC, Inc, the owner of 8 Merry Lane, who wants his property converted from a residential zone to a hazardous industrial zone.

Ask Mayor Joseph Panullo where he stands on the developer's application to convert a residential zone into an industrial zone in the heart of 3 different residential developments. Is it a coincidence Mayor Pannullo requested to have the Master Plan updated to single out 8 Merry Lane to be converted  from a long-standing residential zone into a hazardous industrial zone?  Is it a coincidence Mayor Pannullo requested to have an ordinance proposed to single out 8 Merry Lane to be converted from a long-standing residential zone into a hazardous industrial zone? You decide.

Also, Mayor Joseph Panullo accepted more money (political contributions) from the industrial developer's attorney and the developer's expert witness engineer. Below are the additional amounts of money  (political contributions) the Mayor Panullo accepted:

  • $630.00 (From the industrial developer's expert witness engineer. Coincidentally, $330 out of the $630 was accepted by the Mayor a week before the developer's expert witness engineer testified before the East Hanover Zoning Board regarding this unthinkable industrial development.)
  • $780.00 (From the industrial developer's attorney. Coincidentally, $630 out of the $780 was accepted by the Mayor less than a week after the developer's attorney presented the developer's industrial application before the East Hanover Zoning Board.)

According to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission,

William Salemme, chairman of the East Hanover Zoning Board, accepted the following amounts of money (political contributions)   from the developer:

  • $500.00 11/4/2013

DO YOU THINK IT'S APPROPRIATE FOR A TOWN OFFICIAL TO ACCEPT MONEY (political contributions) FROM A DEVELOPER AND THEN VOTE ON THE DEVELOPER'S CONTROVERSIAL  APPLICATION TO CONVERT A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN A RESIDENTIAL ZONE TO AN INDUSTRIAL ZONE?

Below is a link to 06/28/2016 public zoning board meeting. Mr. Salemme refuses to recuse himself from the chairmanship or voting after the Concerned Residents of East Hanover attorney asks Mr. Salemme, the chairman of the zoning board, to remove himself from this industrial developer's application because of perceived violation of the Local Government Ethics Law and constitutional trust and conflict of interest.

In fact, Mr. Salemme went onto to say he and the developer "enjoyed a nice evening out, good food, good drink, and good music"

If for some reason you can't view the township's video link, here is our recorded copy of Mr. Salemme refusing to recuse himself even after admitting he accepted money  (political contributions) from the industrial developer and had a great evening with him drinking, eating, and listening to music.
